Review: Angry Beavers' Halloween Special (1998)

For the upcoming Halloween holiday, I've decided to make a brief review on a
obscure special from an old Nickelodeon cartoon that practically nobody talks
about. I'm talking about "The Day The World Got Really Screwed Up" from the
animated series "Angry Beavers".

Originally aired October 26th,1998, "The Day The World Got Really Screwed Up"
stars our beaver duo as they go trick-or-treating the day before Halloween and
come across the home of their favorite B Movie actor,Oxnard Montalvo. As they
meet Oxnard and his associates, a giant inter-dimensional alien with a plan
to take over all realities and conquer the whole universe!

As the alien awakens to begin his domination of all realms, he brings all the
monster props used in Montalvo's movie to live, and they arise to assist him in
capturing and brainwash the Beaver Brothers and their newly-met friends. But with
the use of intellect, brawn, and the use of stock footage; the heroes defeat the
alien and save Halloween.

This is pretty good special, Its a complete shame this is pretty much forgotten
not only by the mainstream but pretty much the animation community as well. It
is a very well-animated and funny special. I also appreciate the affectionate
parody of almost every b-movie trope in existence. From the complete idiocy of
Montalvo and his colleagues to the wonderful narration of Peter Graves, this is
special that is completely a gem on its own.

I really hope more come across this special and enjoy it this Halloween season,
it can be found on the Season 1&2 DVD Set from Shout Factory. I appreciate this
homage to the classic horror and sci-fi films from yesteryear and would want more
to do the same.
